Although not always possible, it works out better if you go into the store and know what size you want to buy. This will not only save a lot of your time but also give you more time to examine only those TVs that you want to buy and not waste time by going through the entire range of LCD TVs.
Mainly, two factors determine the size of the LCD TV you should buy; the first being your budget, and the second, the size of the room you want to put the TV in.
Budgets being subjective, I wouldn't want to say a lot about them. But I will say this, you should never go over the top unless you really want to one-up someone. Also, keep in mind that whichever TV you buy now will definitely lose a lot of its value after about 12 months or so.
So, the point I make here is, know your size - the size of your wallet AND your room.
Good article, specially for a newbie like me. I want to gift a LCD/LED to my parents on Diwali and am looking for information on same. Please include more details like new technologies 3D, HD, internet Tv. Also if you can throw some light on all big brands and their technologies like sony and xreality etc. I know about it through their ad only, but a collective definition would be good. So that users can read in one go and decide about the options available as well.
I wish more technical aspects are mentioned here. Perhaps the feature it enjoy over the other TV, and the specification must be mention. Though one knows that LCD TV are better than the plasma it will have been worth mentioning it. Best LCT TV are those TV who imbibed the In Plane Switching Panel (IPS).
I have no clue in reading the above article. Perhaps more specification has to be mention on it. I know which is better TV but how would some one get help from this article. My kind fellow reader my suggestion for you is to go for LCD TV with IPS panel because plasma TV panel are skeptical to bur-in static image.
exactly! even i was lured into this otherwise useless 'Guide' from Techtree. nothng technical has been mentioned anywhere in the whole article!! a BIIIG thumbs down for this read.
"he might just go ahead and give a 4-5% discount which, depending on the time and place, might go to as high as 10%." --- only fools will settle for 5-10 percent- it is best to head for a large dealer showroom and ask for & get higher discount- In Delhi one gets upto 20 percent on LG and Samsung. Do your rsearch and save hard earned money.
one important factor is the huge difference between the
MRP and the street price.for eg. the lg 42fr jazz tv carries a price tag of Rs.83000 but you can bargain it for as low as Rs.65000/- if not more--a discount of 22%.The article mentions only a discount of 10% whereas in reality it is 20%. why cant the brands be more honest and reduce prices
Yes U R right, three months back we purchased a philips 42" LCD with ambilight tech, the listed price was Rs 129000/-by bargaining we got it for Rs103000/- plus a free philips universal remote+free gift worth Rs 1500.we contacted many dealers, they all offered almost the same price, even LG,Sony is in the list, less priced,we selected Philips because of its unmatched picture quality when compared with other brands.
Good analysis. Comparision between 4 or5 commonly available brand would have been better. When you wish to have wall mounted, what precautions one should take?
There are many other you should look into while buying a LCD TV. You may initially be tempted to buy a Plasma TV. Plasma TV has got better color exposure but there is a problem. Plasma TV has less life span as compared to LCD. You should look into the Brand also while selecting a LCD TV. Go for the best International Brand... without naming everybody will have a guess. No not SONY it is bit expensive and only old models we are getting in India. I will give a clue. It is in LONDON but not in NEWYORK. It is in ALGERIA but not in PANAMA. I know you got it right. PIXELS are most important. If you have some extra money go for the best available LCD Model in the market. best wishes.
You forgot to mention about responce time, refresh rate and contrast ratio. at least 8msor less respond time is a good choice,as for lcd is concerned a refresh rate of 60/70 is ok but if one is a regular movie watcher 120 Hz is a must, check for a good contrast ratio and power consuption which is less, and ofcource check the picture quality comparing multiple brand of the same size and feautures. Personally I may go for Philips
