    Apple Brings Updated Desktop Macs to India

Apple has announced Indian pricing for their freshly updated desktop Mac line up. The  all new refreshed desktop Mac line up will be available within 6 weeks through Apple Authorised Resellers.  

For insight on what's new in the updated desktop Mac line up, check out the detailed coverage. New Mac Mini with Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics is available in 2.0GHz in two configurations high end and low end.

Chief features of low-end Mac Mini priced at Rs. 36,600 packs:

- 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3MB L2 Cache

- 1GB DDR3 1066 MHz RAM expandable up to 4GB

- NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics with 128MB video memory.

- 120GB SATA HDD 5400 RPM

Earlier the older high-end Mac Mini was available for Rs. 37,400 which included specifications listed for new one. The low-end 1.83GHz version of Mac Mini priced at Rs. 28,700 has been dropped.

The new high-end Mac Mini priced at Rs. 48,200 packs:

- 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3MB L2 Cache

- 2GB DDR3 1066 MHz RAM expandable up to 4GB

- NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics with 256MB video memory.

- 320GB SATA HDD 5400 RPM

Rest features like slot-load double-layer 8x SuperDrive, Mini DisplayPort and mini-DVI ports, AirPort Extreme wireless networking & Bluetooth 2.1+EDR built-in, Gigabit Ethernet, five USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 800 port and one audio line in with one audio line out port both support digital and analog signals.

On the other hand four new iMac models include only one 20-inch iMac and three 24-inch iMac models.  

Apple has dropped 2.4GHz 20-inch iMac costing Rs. 56,600. While the other 20-inch version earlier priced Rs. 69,100 carrying ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB video memory has been refreshed with new one. The new 20-inch iMac is priced at Rs. 70,200 and comes with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6MB shared L2 cache, 2GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM expandable up to 8GB, 320GB SATA 7200RPM HDD and integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics.

Earlier, only one 2.8GHz 24-inch iMac packing 2GB memory was available for Rs. 83,500 featuring ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO graphics with 256MB video memory.  

Now three 24-inch models are available that allow upgrading RAM up to 8GB!

The lowest 24-inch iMac Model has 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6MB L2 cache, 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM, 640GB SATA 7200 RPM HDD and Nvidia GeForce 9400M integrated graphics.  

Second 24-inch iMac priced at Rs. 1,04,900 has 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6MB shared L2 cache, 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM, 640GB SATA 7200RPM HDD and discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 120 graphics with 256MB GDDR3 video memory.  

While the highest rigged 24-inch iMac priced at Rs. 1,25, 900 has 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6MB shared L2 cache, 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM, 1TB SATA 7200RPM HDD and discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 130 with 512MB GDDR3 video memory.  

Along with new iMacs and Mac Minis, Apple has also introduced new AirPort Extreme for Rs. 10,400 earlier priced at Rs. 8,150. Also both Time Machine models are available in two models 500GB for Rs. 17,700 and 1TB for Rs. 28,200. The older versions of Time Capsules were available for Rs. 15, 270 (500GB) and Rs. 24,880 (1 TB) respectively.

Damnit why did they have to increase the prices by so much? The Mac Mini was at a decent price. Now it's a bit too high.
