Looks like the happiness of subscribers of the new 3G-equipped towns and cities will be short-lived.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked the two state-owned telecom service providers, MTNL and BSNL, to stop the 3G services until there s a strong infrastructure built to be able to track the devices that support 3G services.
Although, according to a report in The Times of India, executives of both the telcos say that even as they work towards improving security related issues related to 3G, they will continue to offer 3G services.
Delhi was the first to receive MTNL s Jadoo 3G services, followed by Chennai and 12 more cities in the country.
Mumbai, which was promised 3G as a New Year gift, is still hopeful that it ll get to taste 3G services this year.
