While we knew that the N97 was "coming soon," we had no launch dates or even an idea about the price for that matter.
The wait for the launch date and the price seems to have ended after Engadget spotted that Expansys, the online reseller, has put up not only an estimated launch date but also has given an inkling of the price the top-of-the line N-Series phone is set to command. The date is not very far, June 23 to be precise. And the price? Well, how does a cool $1075 sound? That translates to about 55,000 INR at the current exchange rates!
Now, honestly, we are sure it will find very few takers if it ever launches at that price. We can still keep our hopes alive because Expansys is famous for posting inflated prices for yet-to-be-launched devices.
So, there is a good chance that the price tag of the Nokia N97 will dip once people start lining up to buy it. On second thoughts, we doubt whether people will ever line up at such prices.
Thats Nokia for you........they always do that.......the price of around 45,000 INR should be expected at launch time and when about a month passes by the price shall move down to about 36-38K and futher like that......I happened with all the communicators, the 8800 series phones, etc.
So have faith we might not be able to buy it at launch but yes definately after sometime......and there is always gafar market in delhi ;)
nokia is one of the oldest manufacturer of cell phones. it is unfortunate that its greed is increasing more and more as time passes. its sale price of its mobile, i am sure is atleast 1000% of its manufacturing cost.
it is high time that nokia gives back to the world a part of its huge profits by lowering all of its products and start a new tred for others to follow or the indian buyers should decide to totally boycott the nokia products, inspite of its superior performance, just on grounds of high cost.
can indians resolve?
