Gigabyte has showcased its very own smartphone, the little known GSmart S1200 Windows Mobile powered device.
The device made its rather quiet debut at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) amongst a deluge of other high profile announcements that included the likes of the Samsung Omnia HD, The Nokia N86 and the new E series phones.
As for the S1200, this one is quite a looker with the extravagant use of chrome and the large WVGA display. The phone is also quite slim at just 11.4 mm thick. It currently runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional - but is upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when it is available. The display as mentioned is a rather large, 3.1-inch one capable of displaying 480*800 pixels. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and Mini USB. The device is powered by a 528Mhz Qualcomm processor and comes with 256MB of ROM and 128MB RAM. The imaging part of the device is taken care of by the 3.2 megapixel camera that the device comes with.
The GSmart S1200 is expected to be on sale starting the second quarter of 2009. There has been no indication of an expected retail price range for the device as yet.
