Samsung fired its first salvo at the touch screen Symbian market with its first Series 60 Fifth Edition handset, the Omnia HD i8910.

The phone features a touchscreen interface running S60 5th Edition, a huge  3.7" AMOLED display, and not to mention, the new high end standard an 8 megapixel camera unit and a totally outrageous 720p HD video recording. Nokia, beat that! The 3.7 inch screen can display 16: 9 videos in 16M colors. And then there are all the expected stuff that includes DivX support, FM radio, and A-GPS.

The Omnia HD comes in two versions ala the iPhone. There is a 8 GB and 16 GB version on offer and with options for further memory expansion. You can expand the memory upto 48GB if you really want to. Just add a 32 GB micro SD card to the 16GB version and you have colossal amount of storage at your disposal.

The Mobile World Congress has just begun and the deluge has just begun!
