Sony has had a really hard time with critics panning each and every move that the console legend makes.

This is a trend that began with a game called Killzone 2. The infamous e3 2005 CG trailer led to a lot of hate and conspiracy. After four years of criticism, Killzone 2 is finally here and how?

Killzone 2 works on a tried and tested formula, but the developers have perfected the core gameplay aspects making it an excellent game. This is the third game in the series and is a direct sequel to the PSP title "Killzone Liberation".

You play as Sev, a war veteran with the Alpha squad, with a mission to capture Scolar Visari, the highly influential and charismatic Helghan leader. The single player plot is very simple and basic; you don't need to know the history of the game to enjoy the experience.

Colonel Jan Templar is heading the mission from the sky; most Killzone veterans will remember him as he was the protagonist in the last two Killzone games. This time around Templar let's his old teammate Rico lead the alpha squad, with a more focused objective.

The game starts-off right in the middle of war, not the best of place to learn your basics. The first thing you learn in the game is to take cover through a new system called Lean and Peak. You can stick to any solid surface and take cover, just like in Gears of War or Uncharted. The only difference is that you do this in first person, which completely changes the cover system. A standard third-person camera gives you more vision and perspective after you take cover, but in first-person view, your vision is limited.

The sensible cover system does add more depth to the gameplay, making it more challenging. To make matters worse, the game boasts of some really competent AI, both friendly and not-so-friendly. Just like your squad, the enemy AI is constantly behind cover, firing blindly and lobbing grenades.

This is challenging enough but they also have the habit of changing their location very quickly. In a third-person camera, it's easy to spot the enemy movement, but Killzone's cover system doesn't give you the liberty. For the uninitiated, I am actually complimenting the Killzone cover system as it offers a more realistic experience, one that other games should consider.

4.5 stars outta 5, come on, this game had to be a 5. Also one more thing for Techtree, did you guys actually recieve a copy of the game to test, or got to play the REAL FULL game for say 4 hours, or were your reviews written out, based on just the demo. or was it an outside job. (plagiarism)

it's not that good, ... I have every shooter on every console that comes out and this game has NOTHING togive it it's own charm and personality, .... it's not fun.... and I am almost done with it...Resistance, Gears and COD all walk all over this game, ... the controls are terrible and the aiming is worse. 3 out of 5 stars

Killzone 2 is a perfect example of why SOny is in 3rd place this generation of consoles...it's graphics before game play, and it's a very average FPS with predictable levels and silly dialog.... the music is a lesson of what NOT to do with a gaming soundtrack, the faces other than the cut-scenes are lifeless and drab... C+

KillZone 2 is great. I am glad that the controls did not bug you. I think that Guerilla madea great decision for realism.
