The My Passport Elite comes packed in a nice transparent plastic pack. Though the older Passport drives and the My Passport Elite are very similar in size, there are a few changes that have been introduced in the looks and features. True to its name, this drive sports an elite look. The drive we received had a casing with a soft-touch feel finish and metallic luster, and this color scheme is named Bronze. The drive is also available in three other color schemes - Titanium, Westminister Blue and Cherry Red.
The casing is unlike the normal Passport hard drive, which is glossy and easily attracts fingerprints. The black polymer ribbed sides of the drive are glossy and adds a touch of class. The drive is slim with a thickness of just 1.5 cm and can be easily slipped into your pocket.
The front of the drive has a Mini USB port, protected by a sliding transparent polymer door, so that the port doesn't get clogged with dust.
Just beside the port, are a set of four LEDs that serve as activity indicators by lighting up from one end to another. They also serve as a capacity gauge of sorts by illuminating from left to right as the drive gets filled up. This serves as a rough indicator with each of the four LEDs indicating about 25% of the drive capacity.
The drive comes preformatted with FAT32 for greater compatibility with different operating systems. But if you need to carry a file larger than 4 GB, you need to format it to NTFS. The drive boasts of a huge 320 GB capacity - enough for just about every purpose. There is a WD Scorpio 320GB 5400 RPM laptop hard drive inside the enclosure, which we have tested earlier and found commendable.
But the USB 2.0 interface is the cause of concern here, while the drive inside is not much of a factor.
If it nots Value for money . How come you give it a 3.5 rating ? In Rs . 7000 one can get 2 320 Gb Drives with minor performance difference ! .
Just feel that Techtree at first reviews the wrong products and then overrates them .
Consider that They never reviewed Geforce 8400 m gs which is the most popular graphic card in laptops !
Dude. Why are you bothered about the freaking RATING as if your life depended on it? Doesn't the author clearly say its NOT value for money? Or is there this rule that non value for money products should get less than three stars?
