Sync Gmail contacts and Google calendar entries to the phone's contact list
Google's Sync application, which was released last year for BlackBerry devices, has now made its foray into the iPhone and Windows Mobile devices. The Sync tool has been made available as a beta release for devices running on these platforms. The software will allow users to Sync their Gmail contacts and Google calendar entries to the phone's contact list. The application will be similar in functionality to the one released for BlackBerry last year.
Announcing the tool for the new platforms, a Google blog post said, "One advantage of storing information online is being able to access it from anywhere, on any device. This will be particularly handy for people who regularly use Google tools, like corporate employees, university students and busy families." Google has posted instructions on the blog on how to go about with the installation and has cautioned users to backup all their contacts before performing a sync, as the process erases all existing data from the phone and replaces it.
For installation and details, go to http://m.google.com/sync on your phone browser. Google also has a video tour on offer.
