You will soon get to register complaints online, supervise the progress of the case, among other services
Here is some relief for those who are totally frustrated by the 'babugiri' that the police in our country is famous for. You will soon get to register complaints online, supervise the progress of the case, among other services.
All this will now be possible as the Indian government has approved a budget of about Rs 2,000 crore and the Ministry of Home Affairs is in the process of finalising the details. If everything goes as planned, this will be entirely implemented by the end of 2010, according to a report in The Times of India.
The computerised intelligence police system (CIPA) will now be transformed into the crime and criminal tracking network system (CCTNS) for an effective discharge of duties. This scheme would include seven cities of India-- Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
The department added it is working towards providing internet connectivity to all police stations soon.
