Western Digital has launched its much buzzed 2TB Caviar Green HD in India. First of its kind in 3.5-inch hard drive range, Western Digital's this new hard disk drive is based on the new 500GB per platter technology. Like the storage size, this 2TB fat platter drive is priced at Rs. 14,950.
Storage fanatics would certainly be interested in laying their hands on this 3.5-inch internal storage monster offering a massive 32MB cache. The hard disk manufacturers are pushing for higher areal density per platter and thus standing against the challenge thrown by the upcoming Solid State.
With HD platters getting fatter i.e; gaining more area density, it offers more internal storage option over the solid state drives. Price of 2TB HD is same as that of any 128GB SSDs and thus widens the price difference between HDDs and SSDs.
Thus, this 2TB HDD is power efficient, operates quietly and is affordable when compared to the SSDs for the same storage capacity. We bet the multimedia frenzy folks who have thousands of movies, music and high quality images (even in RAW format) to store, should give a thought to buy this massive storage device.
