Ubisoft confirms release of Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, next Ghost Recon, etc. before March 2010
When reporting the sales figures for the third quarter of 2008, Ubisoft has confirmed the release date of the much anticipated game Assassin's Creed 2. Last month, we disappointed the Assassin Creed fans with an update on the delay in the arrival of the game. It looks like the company wanted to build up the anticipation and buzz amongst the gaming community.
Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot's comments peg the AC 2's release either in late 2009 or early 2010.
Videogame247 has put up Ubisoft's financial forecasting statement that says:
These forecasts have been drawn up taking into account the launch of i) 7 franchise titles, including Assassin's Creed 2, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Anno; ii) 3 new brands including I Am Alive; iii) 4 movie license-based games including James Cameron's Avatar, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, and the sequel to Arthur and the Invisibles; and iv) an enriched casual games portfolio, which will be focused on the successful Petz, Imagine, My Coach, and PlayZone series.
The first installment of Assassin was technically perfect, but fans cribbed about the repetitive gameplay and the A.I. Guillemot also mentioned about the MotionPlus-friendly title Red Steel 2, but no further details were disclosed. Ubisoft plans to invest more in games with a popular title rather than publishing casual ones.
I kind of think it would be nice for the game to continue where it left off. Have Desmond find a knife somewhere in the room where he's being held, go to town on the guys that want to kill him, and escape, only to be tracked by the "new age" assassins. Once he's up-to-date on todays society, and the need for people like him, he can begin a present day fight to unleash whats been passed to him through blood. That should easily answer the use of new weapons, and hopefully new fresh enviroments, both indoor and outdoor. I don't care what people say about the repitition of AC1, I simply loved it. I found myself committed to playing it 100%.
The story leads to believe that the Creed is stored in Desmond's memories passed down through ancestry. possible plots could be another place in time, or present day. The ending of AC1 makes me think desmond isn't ready to jump into the animus anytime soon.
AC2 is going to be awesome, i reckon but i wish people would stop going on and on about it being set in the present or the future. The most likely thing thats going to happen is it continuing on from what happened in the last one (in the animus i mean)
long time for two to be out, is there going to be a online Multi play.....like WOW......world on build Assassins Creed person....and have tasks on go after other online people? or is it in to the future his quest in modern world of today...
