Come Jan. 29, as many as 70 scientists will participate in the first meeting at Bangalore aimed at analyzing the data received from various instruments aboard the Chandrayaan -1.

According to The Hindu, senior officials associated with the mission expect a deluge of never before seen images and data from all the eleven instruments aboard the Chandrayaan. Eminent scientists from various countries are expected to arrive at Bangalore for the first review meeting. They will represent the various Space organizations they affiliate to. These include the NASA, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Brown University, Johns Hopkins University and Max Planck Institute.

The Chandrayaan spacecraft contains as many as eleven different scientific instruments intended for various data collection purposes. These include the MiniSAR 1, which will help scientists detect the presence of water ice on the lunar surface. Then there is the SARA, or Sub keV Atom Reflecting Analyser that helps decipher the contents of the lunar surface. These along with the other instruments and images from the Moon Mineralogy Mapper (MIP) are expected to provide tons of data for the scientists to feast on.

This first review meeting will be one of the many meetings expected to happen in the future as more data from Chandrayaan continues to pour in.
