The card
As you can see in the GPU-Z screenshot above, this tool cannot properly recognize the card. We therefore used RivaTuner's Graphics subsystem diagnostic report to find out a few missing details.

As it can be seen in the dump, this card has the 9600 GSO 512, which is not really a new version of the 9600 GSO but a completely different card. It has a G94 core with A1 revision of Silicon and is remarkably similar to the 9600GT, even having the same 256-bit wide memory interface, unlike the 9600 GSO, which has a 192-bit interface. Unlike the 9600 GSO with 96 shaders, this card has half that number, i.e. 48 shaders, so performance should be more or less similar at lower resolutions and a little lesser at higher resolutions. What this all means is that this 9600 GSO 512 is a strange happening, retaining the crippled nature of the 9600 GSO, despite the higher memory bandwidth along with higher core and memory clocks.
It is based on older 65 nm process. It has core and memory running at stock clock speeds, i.e. the same as those of the reference card. The card has support for Hybrid power with supporting motherboards (the GPU can be turned off, and display is handled at low power by onboard graphics).
This graphics card sports a Zalman heat sink cooler, which looks really good. The HSF has a semi-circular shape and has several thin blades providing enough area to dissipate heat efficiently. The fan is exceptionally silent. The memory chips are not cooled by the HSF.
