This 9600 GSO 512 MB comes with a core clock of 650 MHz and its memory is clocked at 900MHz.

Good performance, Superb overclocking performance, Zalman cooler.

Still uses the old 65 nm process, Only 48 shaders, A bit expensive.

Mid-range cards are the bread-earners of the graphics cards companies and this is very much true as far as the budget-conscious market of India is concerned. We had tested a graphics card based on the GeForce 9600 GSO last year, but now, NVIDIA has released a newer variant of the chipset - GeForce 9600 GSO 512, and the graphics card being reviewed today is based on that chipset. The Galaxy 9600 Dual Xtreme Tuner 512MB is based on this chipset and made for those who do not want to spend much but still want to game. With a three-phase power supply, Galaxy has made every possible attempt to set it different from what it really is.

The Galaxy 9600 Dual Xtreme Tuner Edition comes with a core clock of 650 MHz and the memory is clocked at 900MHz. The card uses the Zalman cooler design, which is a beautiful aluminum heat sink.

While Galaxy is a big manufacturer and supplies cards to Europe and Asia, it distributes its cards in India via BIG Corporation. Let's take a look at the card and find out whether it is only the look that is different or is there a difference in its performance.

The box is not really attractive. However, the sabre-tooth tiger logo over a blue background looks good. The specs of the card are visible on the right and also prominently advertised is the 3-Phase power supply on the board. It is also written that there is a "Free gift inside" and we wonder what it could be. We opened the box to have a look.

It is quite odd that in these days of HD movies, and with HD displays fast gaining popularity, this card neither features an HDMI port, nor does it come with a DVI-to-HDMI dongle. Wake up Galaxy, this is 2009! Thankfully, they have taken care of backward compatibility by providing a DVI-to-VGA dongle to connect CRT monitors to the card. As the name of the product suggests, the bundle includes a CD of the Xtreme Tuner software to tweak the graphics card. Now for the "Free gift inside". Well, it's nothing but a pen!

sorry to say sir, but it cannot be installed on your system because this needs PCI Express slot and you have AGP, you will need to upgrade your motherboard
