Lifts download limit ban after users hog Microsoft's Technet download site, rendering the page unavailable for a long time
Microsoft's announcement of Windows 7 public beta download on Friday turned out to be a disaster for their servers. With a 2.5 million download limit, users literally hogged Microsoft's Technet Download site and caused the page unavailable for a long time.
After Friday's nightmare Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc announced the lifting of download limit ban:
"Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience. We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided to remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit."
Have you got your Windows 7 beta copy yet? If not, head to Windows 7 Download page and start downloading. Bear in mind that download speeds would be fairly slow since several thousand users might be downloading the same file. Also the download speed depends upon Internet connection, faster connection gives faster download.
I had done it easly within 4 hrs @ 250KB/s ,after download just click the icon and it will directly go to the default rewrite media asking you to insert a blank DvD R disk, It took nearly 10mins to create the disc ready to use
