Here is some bad news for all you Motorola loyalists out there.

According to a media report, Motorola is believed to have decided to cut down the number of new phone releases to just twelve per year. Also, the only smartphones it will produce will be based on Google's Android platform.

The report also added that Motorola's handset division is allegedly going to witness a trim when it comes to the number of employees. This is not a small number we are talking about, upto 50 percent of the employees in Motorola's handset division!

What's more? Motorola is also not planning to be a part of the CTIA Wireless trade show in April.

Looks like Motorola is going through a rough patch.
