Nokia to increase the awareness levels amongst consumers about the fact that phones and accessories could be almost completely recycled
Nokia initiated its "Take Back" campaign starting yesterday, which aims at spreading awareness about the recycling and re-use of old handsets and accessories.
As a part of the campaign, Nokia will accept old, used handsets and accessories at select Nokia Priority outlets and Nokia Care Centers. Consumers would be able to "drop" their old handsets for recycling at these select outlets. In return, Nokia says it will plant a tree for every handset dropped in to the recycling bins. If that was not all, consumers also get a chance to win a surprise gift from the company, appreciating their efforts for a good cause.
The move comes after a recent survey from which Nokia figured out that amongst all the thirteen countries surveyed, consumers in India had very little knowledge about the fact that handsets (or even accessories for that matter) could be recycled. In fact, only 17% of the users surveyed were aware about this. This prompted Nokia to embark on a marketing blitz as a way to increase the awareness levels amongst consumers about the fact that phones and accessories could be almost completely recycled. The best thing about this initiative is that the offer is not restricted to Nokia made phones or accessories! Head to the nearest Nokia Priority Dealer for more information.
