Promises the full touchscreen experience provided by Viewty or the forthcoming Renoir, lacks 3G HSDPA support
The LG KP500, also known as the Cookie, is the latest entrant into the market of touchscreen devices designed for finger navigation. But, unlike others, the biggest advantage that Cookie has is that it is one of the most inexpensive touchscreen phones around; yet, it promises the full touchscreen experience provided by its elder brother Viewty and the forthcoming Renoir.
The LG Cookie is a GSM Quadband handset supporting GPRS/EDGE; however, it lacks 3G HSDPA support, which will be missed when the service starts in full swing in India. It has a large 3.0-inch 240 x 400 resistive touchscreen display. Below the display, the Cookie has three keys identical to those seen on the Renoir. The UI is Flash based and is similar to the Viewty. It also has an accelerometer for auto-UI rotation.
It has a 3.2 megapixel camera; however, unlike the Viewty, the Cookie only records videos in QVGA resolution at 12 FPS. Also, it does not play DivX or XviD files. Overall, the Cookie seems like a very promising phone, which at Rs.
13,000/- will be a good, inexpensive alternative to the iPhone if you
crave the touchscreen experience.
