Intel has quietly introduced the
low-cost mobile quad-core processor Q9000, a component in Acer's new Aspire
8930G-7665 laptop, as reported by CNet, which is priced at $348 (approx. Rs.
16,850).

The new mobile quad-core
processor Q9000 costs significantly lesser than mobile quad-core processors
QX9300 listed at $1038 (approx. Rs. 50,350) and QX9100 listed at $851 (approx. Rs.
41,250). Both QX9300 and QX9100 have 12MB cache memory, while the new Q9000 has
6MB cache memory. Obviously, Q9000 will be a bit slower than the other two mobile
quad core processors since a processor with a smaller amount of cache memory will be correspondingly
slower.

Intel has also added four new Core
2 Duo mobile processors to their mobile CPU line-up.

- C2D mobile T9800 running at 2.98GHz clock speed and
priced at $530 (Rs. 25,700 approx.)

- C2D mobile T9550 running at 2.66GHz clock speed and
priced at $316 (Rs. 15,300
approx.)

- C2D mobile P9600 running at 2.98GHz clock speed and
priced at $348 (Rs. 16,850
approx.)

- C2D mobile P8700 running at 2.98GHz clock speed and
priced at $241 (Rs. 11,700
approx.)

All these new mobile
processors are based on Intel's newly announced Intel Centrino 2 technology.

have a Thermal Design Power (TDP) rating of 35 watts, while the P series mobile
Core 2 Duos have a TDP rating of 25 watts.
