With over 70 million mobile phone users existing in our villages, more and more telecom companies are trying to woo this growing target audience.
Adding to this list is Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), who in association with Ajanta India Ltd. (AIL) has launched low-cost mobile phones with free prepaid connections for rural subscribers of Uttar Pradesh.
Considering the fact that most of these users fall into the low budget handset buyer bracket, this newly launched phone, which is manufactured by the Gujarat-based AIL and is known as A3000, is priced at Rs. 1,290 and offers talk value of Rs. 1,500. "We are also searching for similar possibilities in other states", AIL added.
