We compare the most sought after business phones for you
Both Nokia and BlackBerry phones need no introduction. They have been in the news so much that it's hard not to be aware of them. Well, the phones that we are comparing here are the Bold 9000, the current top runner at Blackberry, and the E71, which holds the second position among Nokia business phones; the E90 is the flagship business handset from Nokia.
Basics Both phones have QWERTY-based keypads and cater to the business class. The E71 is solely a business phone, while the Bold is great as a business as well as a multimedia phone. Getting back to the business aspect of the phones, they are primarily used for calls, email, and working on various documents. Both the phones are great for calls with excellent call quality, and a long-lived battery lets you talk for several hours without a re-charge.
Productivity Coming to emails, the Bold has its very own Blackberry push mail service, which is supported by many operators in the country. On the other hand, E71 has Nokia's own email service, which is not supported by operators. It will be some time before it's widely accepted and implemented by companies and supported by operators. Now, when we come to the last among the primary operations of a business handset, the phones are capable of opening various documents.
On tests conducted on both the phones, it was found that they are capable of opening office documents and even provide the capability to edit the files using Quick Office. Opening PDF files, though, is faster on the Bold as compared to the E71, thanks to its powerful processor. Each handset has its own PDF reader, which differentiates the way you view the PDF.
Look and Feel With regards to form, the E71 and the Bold are both great, not only to use but to look at as well, though the Bold is the better looking of the two. The Bold has a slightly larger screen, add to that a higher resolution support at 480 x 320, which provides it with much more work space than the E71. The QWERTY keypads of both the phones are really good, hard to say which is better. I personally favor the Bold. Also, the navigational button-set in the Bold is good; the button size is large enough to thumb through easily, and the trackball replacing the conventional D-Pad is something unbeatable. It's not like the E71's navigation ability is poor, but comfort levels are much higher with the Bold.
Pricing Everything boils down to the pricing of the handsets; there is a difference of over Rs. 10,000 between the two. This puts them in two completely different price leagues. The E71 is a great handset at its price and so is the Bold. There is no handset out there that offers business and multimedia capabilities at such premium levels.

Do you think the Blackberry Bold is worth the extra 10k premium it commands over the E71? Post away your comments and let us know!
well, you failed to mention the better net experience of blackberry. Although i have a e71, i found that the bb is miles ahead when it comes to dealing with mails with large attachments. But of course that becomes an issue only when you depend exclusively on your phone for communication which is not the case with the majority of us as phones haven't totally substituted the laptop. But on the other hand bb has to bite dust when compared to e71 phenomenal ability to withstand rough usage. The multimedia part is overstated as most business users use their phones to listen to music once in a while and nokia performs well there he not better. But the back breaking straw for bb is monthly rentals. Considering the overall usage pattern and price difference i would say that nokia is for those of us who are spartan, while romans can have their blackberry.
Don't Go for Blackberry .. if it is given by your company.. Company can find your location in real time. Read you SMS , Contact Book etc .. Your phone will be GPS for your Company to Track you Down.
I prefer E71!!!
It's more beautiful & look so luxurious than Bold.
Bold use so simply material.
Even it higher performance
..but i fall in luv wt>>>E71
I have been using E71 for the past few months. it is fantastic. Works well with outlook too.. Excel sheet editing option is a win-win for me!!! fantastic browsing speed.. Y would i go for a blackberry... When a donkey can do the job, why go for a horse .. No offence meant to anyone.. But Nokia E71 is just too perfect!!!!
I have been using E71 for the last 3 months, i see the,
Pros: Syncs beautifully with Outlook 2007(excellent organizer), Ease of use, average multimedia performance, good for mobile net sufing.
Cons: Not so easy to use power button, it hangs at times(rare) happened to me twice in the last 3 months, Poor Handsfree speaker phone(not audiable). Poor Video camera Quality.
not really, you literally have to spend 10k for what? A slightly bigger screen, a bit more powerful processor, and that's just About it. But we don't get symbian, support for wma, aac or e aac formats the ultra slimness otherwise they both are pretty much the same.
initially i bought the e71 and had it for two days , then i returned it to the store because i had problems with the e-mail reception and as the nokia guy did not adviced me correctly i got the bold. i had had it for three weeks and in some ways i regret my final ek
lection. i mean, both phones work fine, email was a problem with the nokia but with the bold i cant watch youtube!!!
