While the stock are still being cleared, we have yet another 8800GT .. err .. 9800GT, and this time it is from Galaxy. While the card runs at stock clock speeds, unlike other 9800GTs out there, this one looks different with a different HSF and the XTreme Tuner utility that lets you stretch it to the limits.
While Galaxy is a big manufacturer and supplies cards to Europe and Asia, it distributes its cards in India via BIG Corporation. Enough idle talk, it is time to take a look at the card and find out whether it is only that look that is different or does it perform different from the others as well.
The box is not very attractive, as is usually the case with such cards. The logo artwork is barely visible, but you can see the specs of the card on the right. It is also written that there is a "Free gift inside" and we wonder what it could be. We opened the box to have a look inside.

It is quite odd that in these days of HD movies, and with HD displays fast gaining popularity, this card does neither feature an HDMI port, nor does it come with a DVI-to-HDMI dongle. Wake up Galaxy, this is 2008. Thankfully, they have taken care of backward compatibility by providing a DVI-to-VGA dongle to connect CRT monitors to the card. As the name of the product suggests, the bundle includes a CD of the Xtreme Tuner software to tweak the graphics card. Now for the "Free gift inside". Shall we talk about the pen in the bundle? Nah!
can ne1 tell me where i can get this plz...have romed d whole of Lamington road but half d ppl don know n 1c who do r quoting a 11k price tag!!!!!!
PLz leme know if there is ne authorized dealer in mumbai
why the hell is everyone running after HD even if nearly all the movies are not available. This HD haven't yet got that much popularity in overseas and people like u dumbo think like its feasible in india. I dnt see HD movies coming in near future for atleast 2 years. Imagine then ur graphics card will be two years old.
It is because people like that those BIG companies make fool out of us by saying about new features that most of the time are not going to be used for atleast 2-3 years. why the hell should we pay for the technology which is so costly at the moment but in-future is going to be cheaper when it will widely used and accepted.
Fools like you think like you are born in some developed country and try to prove that every new feature even if it not going to be used should be present in the device.
Why the hell a person should pay for the feature he is not going to use.
hey, why do you bother reading this review? i think you are still using onboard graphics and dialup internet in some village. get a life. HD is here to stay
speak 4 urself u outdated fool....HD is the way ahead n u r sayin this...lol...n 2 years for HD 2 come 2 India....wake up n smell d coffee ignorant fool......u already get HD players in d market....N as far as i can c this GPU is Future proof....wat difference does it make if it gets 2 years old...u'll get d same level of performance wen u over clock it....guess u really do live in a village wid a PC runnin on a 486 processer!!!!!
"...must buy for midrange users if you are one of those who use a 22-incher. If you have anything smaller, you would be wasting your money..."
Why a waste for anyone using less than 22 inchers? I didn't get that?
I think that it means that you can get a cheaper card as you will not be able to play games at very high resolution. these high resolutions are not supported by smaller monitors such as the 19 inch monitor i have
