That's, if you have booked the 'Comes with Music' handset through the pre-booking channel, says a Nokia representative
UPDATE:If you pre-book Nokia 5800 Express Music now, you'll receive it in the first week of January. The phone will be available at The Mobile Store outlets on January 15th.
There will not be any further delay the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be available in January 2009.
If you've booked the handset through the pre-booking channel , you'll receive the handset on January 4, said a Nokia representative who called us to confirm our pre-booking.
The phone will be available at The Mobile Store on 15th January onwards, a company representative has confirmed. However, a Nokia Priority dealer in Navi Mumbai told us that the phone will be available at the company outlets on January 25th. Now, we're not sure if this indicates pan-India availability, since there's no official word about this from the company.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is the first Symbian S60 5th Edition based touchscreen phone from the company. It has a 3.2-inch screen and offers Nokia's 'Comes with Music' service. The music service offers unlimited access to Nokia Music Store catalogue for one year.
Nokia 5800 has been priced at Rs. 21,800. The phone is currently available at select Nokia Priority outlets to allow users a hands-on experience of the device.

The price of this Cell phone 5800 xPress Music is slightly than what I had expected it to be somewhere between Rs. 18'000 - 20'000 as I read this price in terms of EUR at some other product review website. However, I would consider still as "Value for Money" as compared to what its competitors has to offer in the same range but at a higher price. Secondly friends, as we all know "Patience always pays"...therefore I would suggest to wait uptill 2-3 months after the phone is made officially available in India and here are the reasons why I am insisting you to wait:
1. Prices initially are quiet high during its initial launch because crazy people would always get it at no matter the prices being higher.
2. There are still some defects with the phone once it has been started to being used by a user. Therefore, as soon Nokia is reported with the issue, they will rectify the issue and than release the 2nd stock from which one can buy as one thing is for assured that the cell now being used is free from any defects.
@ Apporva
here's clarifying on that issue,,nokia 5800 was confrontred with 7 major problems,,whole of them r been rectified by nokia now
India was lucky enough that nokia 5800 was not shipped in india first,,but in hongkong rather
all the major bucks have been rectified,,,,,,and yes don't be under the false belief that phone prices drops in 2-3 months,,as it'll be available to the majority from 1st week of feb only,,only prebookers r getting it on3,4,5,6th of JAN
SO enjoy the nokia 5800
I have also noticed that the built quality of the newly launched handset model which may be priced high, may also be superior to those of the same model ,available at a lower price and at a later date. The firmware/software problems can always be sorted out by updating the same from the official website.I may be wrong here but its just a thought :O)
The front VGA camera of 5800 doesn't work, music quality is very very poor, the loudness of the dual speakers at full volume is less than that of any lower models.Xpressmusic mobile with such poor music quality is just unbelievable.Camera has only 3x zoom whereas N73/N79& other old models have a 20x zoom. Had a lot of expectation with 5800, but its a total failure.
Are the speakers of the 5800 louder than the nokia 6233 ?The front camera should only come active when you are in a video call using 3G.It appears that you have already used the nokia 5800 although it is not yet available in calcutta.
