Heavy criticism forces company to withdraw its move to stop selling the cheap netbooks in parts of the European market
So Asus was about to stop selling cheap Linux Eee PC netbooks in northern Europe? Well, they surely were, but it's the criticism that led them to retract their statement.
Marketing officer Mikael Koark has given a confirmation to Computer World in a politically-correct statement that there seemed to be a "misunderstanding" and "have obviously not dropped Linux" from the northern European portfolio.
The heavy criticism by the Nordic users led Asus to withdraw their move and revise their European strategy. More Linux-based Eee PCs will be released in the first quarter of next year and the company will continue to sell the existing Eee PC 701, 900, 901 in Linux flavor.
