The 2.5-inch 512GB SSD is based on Multi-Level Cell NAND memory and will be showcased at the International CES Expo
Toshiba has announced that they have created the industry first half terabyte SSD. The 2.5-inch 512GB SSD is based on Multi-Level Cell NAND memory and will be showcased at the International CES expo, which begins on January 8, 2009.
In addition to the 512GB SSD, Toshiba also launched new SSD models based on 43nm fabrication technology. These SSDs will be offered in 1.8-inch or 2.5-inch enclosures or as SSD Flash modules.
The new and advanced MLC controllers that these drives boast helps them to attain better read/write speeds, parallel data transfers, and also makes them more reliable. The drive offers AES data encryption and achieves a maximum read/write speed of 240/200 Mbps.
Toshiba will be sending out samples in the first quarter of next year, while mass production is expected to begin from the second quarter.
