ATA disk module supplier, Apacer Technology launched new class of Solid State Drives combining SATA II and RAID 0/1. Priced at Rs.9,500, the drive is called SATA RAID Flash Drive or SRFD.

The design of the drive consists of two CompactFlash (CF) card slots, rather it is a dual CF card reader that connects to the SATA II interface. A switch on this drive lets you set the mode to a high speed RAID 0 or a more reliable RAID 1. SRFD supports RAID system management and operation of data backup function for data security.

The SRFD is targeted at applications such as surveillance systems, medical equipment and measurement instruments, though we would not be surprised to see these entering the consumer portable computer segment, especially Netbooks.
