A successor to the VA1918wm from Viewsonic's Value series of LCD monitors, the VA1928wm promises better quality at an affordable price. We put it to test and are mighty pleased with what we saw.
Design

TheVA1928wm sports a two-tone paint job, something we are accustomed to in the VA-series by Viewsonic. The bezel for the panel is black with a smooth finish, while the panel of the power and OSD buttons is sliver. It sits well on the desktop and is supported by a sturdy plastic stand. Four OSD buttons and a power button are placed below the screen, with the power button in the middle. It looks identical to the VA1918wm and might confuse anyone.
Features
The VA1928wm uses a 19-inch wide color amorphous silicon (a-Si) TFT Active Matrix LCD panel thus saving power and improving on the response time as well. The panel has a native resolution of 1440x900 pixels (16.2 million colors) and a response time of 5 ms with horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 160 degrees each.

The contrast ratio is 1000:1 (static) and 10000:1 (dynamic) with a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m2 and sports a single VGA (D-Sub) port and a DVI-D port at back. But the DVI cable is not a part of the standard bundle for the package and you'll need to buy that separately.
Hidden under the bezel are twin 2W speakers, but don't expect to enjoy music or movies via these. Going by past experience, at best, these would be great for basic audio/video chats and system or theme sounds.
