Palm has sent invitations to prospective CES attendees inviting them to a press conference
Speculation is rife about beleaguered handheld OS manufacturer Palm being ready to bring an update to its now six-year-old Palm OS 5.
Apparently, the company has sent out invitations to prospective attendees at the CES, scheduled early next month, inviting them to a press conference where they will be able to see the new "Palm-ness," according to the invite. Most analysts predict this would be the next version of the OS the company has been working on since the past year.
With new entrants making huge inroads into the smartphone arena, Palm has been relegated to a somewhat defensive position. The likes of Symbian, Android, OSX, and Windows Mobile have steadily consumed what was once Palm's sole domain.
We can only hope the new OS has all the oomph to take on its younger, nimbler adversaries.
