Finally after months and months of waiting we will be able to experience 3G on our mobile phones. So far all that we got a taste of was EDGE, which, let's accept is, nowhere close to the speeds 3G has to offer. On top of that we never get the full speeds that even EDGE is capable of due to which mobile browsing in India only gets restricted to checking mails. However, all that is about to change with the advent of 3G.
So what exactly is 3G you ask? Well 3G is essentially like broadband Internet connection on your phone. Compared to the maximum 296 kbps speeds that you get with EDGE, 3G will provide us with 2 Mbps. Just imagine browsing web pages and downloading files at that speed and finally being able to use that front video camera on your phone for something else than taking self portraits, like actually video calling someone. And add to the fact that most mobile phones these days have excellent web browsers and you might just end up doing all your Internet related work on your phone.
Excited about 3G? Want to get your hands on a 3G phone but don't know which one would be right for you? Here we have for you a list of the top 3G phones.
Apple iPhone 3G

When the second generation iPhone came out, 3G was one of the biggest additions to its feature list. It was also the only version that was officially launched in India. But since 3G was not available in India back then, one of the biggest selling points of the iPhone 3G was also the most unused.
But now iPhone 3G can finally do what it was meant to do. It's not just great speeds; the iPhone also has one of the best browsers on any mobile phone ever - Mobile Safari. Along with that are the legendary strengths of the iPhone like excellent interface, great touch screen display and gorgeous looks.
Plus there is also GPS, Wi-Fi, accelerometer and the seamless integration with iTunes and the App Store. The iPhone is still too expensive, but at least now it is better value for money. The iPhone is priced at Rs. 29,000/- for the 8GB and Rs. 33,000/- for the 16GB version.
