HP and Boston Power have developed a new line of batteries that is touted to be long lasting as well as environmental friendly. Dubbed as 'Enviro,' HP had been testing this Sonata lithium-ion battery for the past three years, and now they safely proclaim that after three years of use the battery retains 80 percent of the initial charge.

Enviro batteries can be charged more than 1000 times and still give a 'new like' performance, while a standard laptop battery's charge starts to drop drastically after being charged 150 times.

The new batteries do not use PVC plastic, cadmium, arsenic, or mercury in the manufacturing process. Furthermore, they can be recycled safely after use.

Lastly, the Enviro batteries will cost $20 (Rs. 980) or $30 (Rs. 1470), more than conventional batteries, and they will come with a three-year warranty.

HP plans to bundle the battery with laptops.
