What do you get when you mix news about Apple Inc., an analyst's view, and the current status of the economy? The answer is 'a juicy rumor.' Analyst Ezra Gottheil from Technology Business Research (TBR) says that Apple might launch a netbook within the first half of next year. The reason behind such a move, he claims, is because Apple can no longer enjoy a premium pricing policy in a scenario where people's incomes have drastically reduced.
The cheapest Macbook is priced at $999, which still makes it more expensive than its counterparts available in the market. Commanding such prices for their products will not work in the future considering that "genuine financial woes of customers is higher than the perceived quality of Mac products."
He further speculates that Apple might price the netbook at $599 and that it will be thin as Macbook Air.
