As promised , the state-owned telecom service provider MTNL (Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited) is going to put India on the world's 3G map this month - 11th December, to be precise.
The 3rd Generation, or 3G, services are going to be made available in Delhi first, with Mumbai next in line, say major national dailies.
While the state-owned telecom service will kick-start the project by providing 3G service to masses in the metros, private players will have to play the wait-game with authorities until January 15, 2009, by which date the 3G spectrum auction should be completed.
3G services would allow users to have upload and download speeds of upto 2 Mbps. The current 2G services available offer subscribers speeds up to a maximum of 50 Kbps and 144 Kbps.
With MTNL announcing the launch of its 3G services this week, BSNL should soon follow suit.
""The current 2G services available offer subscribers speeds up to a maximum of 50 Kbps and 144 Kbps. """
Can Anyone Pls explain the meaning of max of 50kbps and 114kbps ????
