Modules with clock speed of 1066MHz and priced at $228
Kingston has announced the DD3 HyperX RAM kit of two 2GB SO-DIMM modules for notebooks. With a clock speed of 1066MHz HyperX DDR3 gaming DIMMs, Kingston claims to offer ultra-low latency values (CL5-5-5-15) and a new metal heatspreader for thermal conduction for higher performance. Priced at $228 (Rs. 11,400), which is pretty high for an upgrade in India, Kingston offers lifetime warranty. Announced in US, this kit will take a while to reach Indian shores.
At a clock speed of 1066MHz giving ultra-low latency of 5-5-5-15 at 1.5v, these are promising DDR3 modules (KHX8500S3ULK2/4G) available in the market for notebooks. However, this would work best with notebooks that offer a feature to bring down the memory timing. Kingston has already announced the 2GHz HyperX DDR3 memory modules and shipped them in triple-channel configuration for new Intel-based X58 motherboards.
As of now, we don't know when the HyperX DDR3 ultra-low latency memory kit will be available in India.
