Has struck deals with Activision and Blizzard Entertainment
Massive Inc., a video game advertising subsidiary owned by Microsoft, has announced deals with Activision and Blizzard Entertainment for pushing in-game advertisements. The company already has multi-year in-game ad deals with THQ and Electronic Arts. In-game ads is a concept only a couple of years old, but it has got mixed reactions from gamers.
As iTWire reported, Massive will deliver ads for 18 game titles for PCs and the Xbox platform from Activision through a "long term" deal with Activision. These 18 titles include games like Guitar Hero III, Tony Hawk, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, AMAX Racing and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, etc.
With the deal with Blizzard Entertainment, Massive will provide ads on Blizzard's website and online games, which include StarCraft, Warcraft, Diablo, and other sequels.
Gamers are more or less okay with these in-game ads, although they momentarily distract them. Also, they love extra benefits like subsidized game copies since such games are too expensive for the average Joe in India.
