"We're not asking for the kind of respect reserved for nuns, the elderly, and brain surgeons. We mean don't abuse the site."
That is the opening statement at the YouTube community guidelines page, and the team has now revamped the guidelines in order to be able to make sure that people don't abuse the site by uploading/watching adult content.
Videos featuring pornographic images or sex acts will be removed from the site when they're flagged, while videos with sexually suggestive (but not prohibited) content will be age-restricted.
Also, videos that are considered sexually suggestive, or that contain profanity, will be algorithmically demoted on YouTube's 'Most Viewed', 'Top Favorited', and other browse pages.
So, in the coming days, users of the largest video-sharing website YouTube would likely find it difficult to search for adult content.
YouTube also announced the launch of YouTube Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, Grammy Award-winning conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, and other leading classical music stars and institutions. Musicians from around the world have been invited to submit videos showcasing their personal style for this online event.
Selected musicians will be flown to New York City to participate in a three-day classical music summit with Michael Tilson Thomas and leading performers in the field, culminating in a Carnegie Hall performance on April 15, 2009.
