Windows 7 Beta Giveaways In Jan 09?

After the recent Professional Developer Conference 2008 in October, all eyes are on the Windows 7 Beta. Ina Fried of Beyond B1nary pointed out in Keith Combs's blog post on TechNet that many people anticipated the Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD to be a giveaway at the Microsoft Developer Network's upcoming conferences. It was later confirmed that the first beta could be expected in January 2009, which was also mentioned at the PDC 2008.
The blog post by Keith Combs on Microsoft's TechNet talks about Microsoft giving away Windows 7 Beta versions at the MSDN Developer Conferences, provided one registers for those conferences. Microsoft had already showcased and later handed out the Windows 7 Pre-Beta Build to developers for testing. Later, the pre-beta build was available for download through torrent sites.
Microsoft has also posted an update on the MSDN Developer Conference page that they'll mail it to all attendees as and when the copies become available. Combs further clarified in the comments that Microsoft will add DVDs to giveaways from 13th January. He assumes that the Windows 7 Beta DVD might be mailed either before or after mid-January to the attendees.
Check the MSDN Developer Conference site for more details on giveaways. Unfortunately, none of the conferences are scheduled in India. Microsoft might put up the Windows 7 Beta on their website for download. Stay tuned for the developer conferences next month.
