Design and Construction
The design of this phone is pretty similar to its elder brother; the E8. The phone comes in two striking color patterns. The design is pretty catchy and many people will like its appearance, especially the youth. Of late, I have experienced that Motorola phones manufactured these days aren't very sturdy in the long run. Nonetheless, the build quality of the EM30 seemed pretty decent, thanks to the solid sidings.

Like the E8, the EM30's display has a landscape orientation. This proves to be advantageous in some cases; for instance, one has to scroll less while reading long text messages. It is also useful while using the camera, since one need not turn the phone sideways while taking a group photo. The display gives out a good output and is quite readable under direct sunlight.
Below the screen is a typical 5-way D-pad as opposed to the touch-scrolling found on the E8. The numpad features the same dotted-button design, which isn't the best in terms of ergonomics. The keypad is not really suitable for speed-texters.

The keypad has a 'morphing' nature; when the music player is on, the numeric keys are replaced by music buttons like play/pause, next/previous track, shuffle and repeat. This compliments the music-oriented status of the phone well.
