Features and Performance
USB 2.0 Link

This feature is fast becoming a norm; it saves you a whole lot time in burning CD's/DVD's. Just plug in any USB pen drive and the player detects it, giving you a prompt to go into USB mode (There is a shortcut on the remote). If there is no disc loaded then it automatically takes you to the USB root menu.
At the time of testing we didn't have a 16GB drive with us so I'm not sure if it will work. All files (audio, video and photo) work fine with a 1GB drive, so even larger capacity drives should not be a problem. The best part is that portable hard drives also work fine provided it is formatted in FAT32 format.
The WD Passport 250GB drive we used worked flawlessly after formatting it with SwissKnife in FAT32 format. This is the most convenient way to watch your entire movie collection quickly without bothering with DVD's.
Rip MP3's
This feature was there in the last Phillips player we tested and makes a comeback here as well.

You can select the Speed (Normal or Fast), Bitrate(up to 192kbps in Normal mode and 320kbps in Fast mode), keep the ID3 tag or not. In Normal mode with the Bitrate set to 192kbps it took roughly 4 minutes to convert a 3 minute song and in Fast mode with the Bitrate set to 320kbps it took 2 minutes and 10 seconds for the same song.
The sound quality is not bad and for a quick conversion it certainly comes in handy. However, if you need some more tweaking options then it's best you do it on your computer.
