Extreme game addiction can be fatal. A 15-year-old Swedish teen learned it the hard way after a 24-hour straight game of World of Warcraft's expansion pack 'Wrath of Lich King' with his six friends over the weekend.
The teenager collapsed due to an epileptic seizure brought on by lack of sleep, food, and prolonged concentration.
"They played all day and all night. Maybe they got a few hours of sleep. They ate a little food and breakfast at their computers," the boy's father told the Kvallsposten, a newspaper in Sweden.
Of course, the boy will recover, but the father is surely putting limits on PC usage and also urged other parents to follow the same.
World of Warcraft is the largest played online game and the new expansion pack attracts more teen audiences globally.
This incident clearly indicates the fatal outcomes of gaming for a prolonged time period. Keeping the physical concerns under consideration, we request all Indian teens and gamers to avoid prolonged gaming sessions.
