Build & Design
The Samsung INNOV8 is a neat looking device and is as sturdy as the N95 8GB and sleeker than the N96, both powerful sliders from Nokia. The Samsung though, has the edge with a much richer feel as compared to both the powerful Nokia sliders. This sturdiness and rich feel of the INNOV8 adds to the weight of the device, making it pretty heavy at 140grams but the weight has been distributed well enough making the Innov8 feel lighter than it actually is.

The face of the phone sees a large crisp 2.8-inch LCD screen. It has a light sensor and maintains the brightness of the screen perfectly indoors but washes out in bright sunlit conditions. Below the screen are two soft keys, the 5-way navigational D-Pad with the center button doubling as an optical joystick. The optical joystick is very much like the Omnia except for a larger one on the Innov8. You can adjust the sensitivity of the joystick and turn it OFF if you don't wish to use it. There are the calling buttons along with two other buttons for Menu and shortcut to the Gallery respectively. All the buttons are neatly spaced out and you can comfortably punch any of the keys without any confusion. The call end key also doubles as the Power ON/OFF or Profile selector. The entire face of the phone has a glossy finish which flows down over the edges and onto the sides. We love it even though it attracts fingerprints and dust.

Slide the INNOV8 open and you'll see the alphanumeric keypad that has an additional line of buttons at the top. These consist of two customizable shortcuts on either side of the Clear button. The keypad is comfortable to use though tactility could have been better.
