Schmidt eyeing the very first CTO position?

Barrack Obama's political campaign is bound to get some more weightage as Google's CEO Eric Schmidt announced that he will soon be campaigning for him. The campaigning looks more of a corporate move but Schmidt admits that this is his personal decision and has nothing to do with Google or its benefit.

He currently fulfilled the role of an informal adviser to Obama and the transition is a 'natural evolution'. So why does he want to promote Obama on a personal level? Well, Obama has been pretty vocal on technology and energy issues and had also claimed to appoint a Chief Technology Officer for the country. Now if the speculation is to be believed, the personal level attention is because Schmidt is eyeing the very first CTO position.

As Google's CEO, his support for Obama also has a considerable influence on other Google employees. It is clearly evident from the contribution to these political leaders campaign. Google employees have contributed around a million dollars for Obama's campaign whereas just around $20,000 for McCain.

This is a rediculous article. The dollar amount contribution to Obama alone indicates that theCEO's endorsement will have little affect on Google employees voting decisions, not to mention that this late date endorsement will have little to no impact on voters in a state that is already overwhelmingly for Obamal. Just what is weightage anyway?
