While the rest of the world is getting comfortable with the concept of the latest and greatest in LCD technology, LG Display has recently shown off something ahead of its time. At the International Meeting on Information Display (IMID) 2008, in Korea, LG Display exhibited a 15-inch double-sided reflective display.

This double-sided reflective LCD offers a 510x384 resolution and features 14:1 contrast ratio. The display illuminates its image from ambient light and is thus suitable for both daylight or outdoor settings. While no power is applied, the display is white and has a 46 percent aperture ratio, 20 percent reflectance ratio and 12 percent colour gamut.

While still at an early prototype stage, it occurs to us that one possible use of such LCD display could be to serve as a cool platform for gaming one-on-one.
