While a pre-Beta build of Windows is expected soon, Microsoft hasn't given up on Vista yet. As per Neowin, Microsoft aims to release Windows Vista SP2 before the release of Windows 7. Earlier this month, Microsoft had put up information about this upcoming Windows Vista service pack at their support site.
In this Vista Service Pack 2, Microsoft will bundle Windows Search 4 as an improved internal search engine, Bluetooth patches, VIA 64-bit CPU support, and additional application compatibility updates. Along with that Microsoft will also ship Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 which will include improved Distributed File System/File Replication System for better management, Terminal Services license keys will get backward compatibility, and there will also be updates for harmonious working of printer-spooler services for printers in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
The first public beta release of Windows 7 is expected in late November and their final release is expected in the next four weeks. However, Microsoft has not commented on the features or release dates but promises to share details in the coming months.
