After 1.5 years of Microsoft Surface launch, Microsoft is still looking forward to make an affordable table top surface computer. Recently, Microsoft delivered a marketing research survey focused around a multi-touch computing device code named - Oahu. This survey intends to get inferences about Oahu which possibly is affordable surface computer for consumers.
The survey starts off with long foreword about Oahu which gives details about the device -- an innovative multi-touch screen which can interact by touching the screen, instead of using a mouse, and more than one person can interact with Oahu at the same time. The device also works with other gadgets like digital cameras, cell phones, and MP3 players.
Having mentioned the characteristics and functions of Oahu, next question is about different forms of Oahu. Different forms means how it will help to different individuals in different situations like news at morning breakfast or helps for homework. And further more, the survey asks about other Surface features like wireless sync with portable devices like phones or cameras, casual gaming and talks about being usable by four people at the same time. Finally, it suggests about target market price of $1499 and whether customers would be ready to buy it.
So, are people ready to take this table top multi-touch computer home? But this research definitely has some practical objective behind it. Is Microsoft really working on any such thing? Well as per a post at Channel9 of Microsoft Developer Network, Microsoft will be releasing Microsoft Surface SDK to the developers for developing various applications for Surface computing devices at the Professional Developers Conference this month.
