    Microsoft Announces Silverlight 2

Microsoft revealed the next iteration of Silverlight. Silverlight 2 which competes with Adobe Flash, Javascript, and Shockwave is now available for download with support for OSes like Mac, Windows, Linux and browser support of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Windows Internet Explorer.

Microsoft says the adoption of its browser plug-in is phenomenal. One out of four consumers worldwide has Silverlight installed and is bound to increase more over the time. In some countries, Silverlight penetration accounts for almost 50 percent of the market share.

Microsoft is also eying to increase Silverlight's presence in the mobile arena. They are already in talks with Research in Motion (RIM), already have inked a deal with Nokia and will reveal further plans at Professional Developers Conference to integrate Silverlight 2 in Windows Mobile.

Users using Silverlight 1 or beta v2 will be automatically get upgraded or you can download it manually from Silverlight's website.

Silverlight will take 25 years to make any impact , for the competing brands in this space are too strong .i am talking about the internet web space . the mobile adaptation rate should be faster and would rather appreciate a pure play version in thatr space ,initially freeware in nature .
