Let's take a look at ASUS's version of the 9800GT with its special custom heat sink.

Good cooler, 3-way SLI support, Hybrid Power, PhysX and CUDA support.

Expensive, O.C performance is not that stellar, Takes two slots.

Nvidia's 9800GT is still chugging along trying to hold its ground against ATI's HD4850. Right now the market is so saturated with graphics cards, it's like if you increase your budget by even a grand, you still have a choice of a better card. The pricing is really aggressive, with both Nvidia and ATI trying desperately to entice the customer with their offerings.

Also, manufacturers of graphics cards are trying their best to give different bundle combinations in order to keep the price and value balanced.

Today we have the EN9800GT HTDI/512M/A from ASUS, which is basically a 9800GT with the Glaciator heat sink. In spite of the big fancy cooler, ASUS decided to ship their card with the stock frequencies, which is a little odd.

Also notice the extra SLI connector 3-way SLI. Of course the main goal of making a card like this is the better cooling for lower operating temperatures. So let's see what this thing can do.

Specification

Nothing much to write about the specifications here as they are exactly the same as the stock frequency with 600MHz for the core, 1500MHz for the shader and 1800MHz for the memory. ASUS packs in 512MB of GDDR3 memory running on a 256-bit memory bus.

With or without AA, a stock HD 4850 will beat a stock 9800GT in almost all of the synthetic benchmarks as well as games.

With "AA on" the ATI 4850 beats this Nvidia card hands down....why should anyone go for 9800GT!!!!
