Nintendo's Wii, on the other hand, outsold both the consoles in the Japanese market.
Microsoft's Xbox360 has outsold the Sony's PS3 for the month of September in Japan. The Xbox 360 went on to sell 53,547 units till September 28, while the PS3 has sold about 33,071.
This is the first time that Xbox has beaten the PS3 in monthly sales figures, which is quite a commendable feat. There are several reasons for high sales -- a major price cut, which made the Xbox as cheap as the Wii, and a number of exclusive RPGs targeted specifically at the Japanese audience.
The Xbox 360 recently dropped prices on all their models, including their high-end "Elite" model that bundles a 120GB HDD and HDMI for 39,800 Yen, which is the same price for a 40GB PS3. The competitive pricing and release of "Infinite Undiscovery" are the main reasons for the high sales.
Nintendo's Wii, on the other hand, outsold both the consoles with a colossal figure of 109,548 units. Whether this is a sudden temporary surge, or a look at the future of sales, we shall find out in the months to come.
