Build & Design
The Nokia N96 is a surprisingly light handset considering its size. It is much slimmer than the N95, which gives it an overall good look. It has a plastic build, which is the reason for the reduced weight and also the cause of some creakiness while using the handset. The handset though huge, feels fine when held in your hand.

From the face of the handset the large screen is the most prominent. Above it is the earpiece and the secondary camera for video chats. Lower down is a breathing D-pad and a cluster of other buttons. The D-pad breathes faster when there is a missed call or any other alert.

There are two soft buttons - the calling buttons and the Main Menu & Clear button. Around the D-Pad are the Audio controls; Next, Previous, Stop, and Play/Pause. It's pretty much a clutter even though the N96 is broader as compared to the N95 8GB. But what makes the cluster of keys around the D-pad of the N95 8 GB more accessible is the use of ergonomics.
