In a special so-obvious-your-grandma-knows-about-it news, the Xbox 360 has doubled its sales after a major price cut.

The price cut effective September 7th has made one SKU as cheap as the Wii, and unlike the Wii, the Xbox does play DVD movies. The sale surge could not have come in a better time, with the holiday season fast approaching and games like Fable 2 and Gears of war 2, ready for release.

Microsoft has also announced casual games like Lips that are bound to release soon, which makes the $199 SKU, a great buy.

In a not so surprising move, Sony is unshaken and has no plans for a price drop this year. This further strengthens the to stick around for 10 years. In the end, it's the consumer who will benefit, which is always welcome.
